Alyssa Healy of the Sydney Sixers and Australia Women’s wicketkeeper-batter is out of the WBBL after suffering injuries in a domestic accident on Saturday evening (October 21).
Healy underwent surgery on Sunday, October 22, but the Sydney Sixers made no mention of the injury’s specifics or the incident that caused it in their statement. the fact the the Sixers have not added Healy to their roster, a sign that the keeper-batter is not seriously hurt enough to miss the entire season, can be used to determine how serious the injury is.
The Sixers’ following game is against the Brisbane Heat on Tueday night (October 24) at the North Sydney Oval. In Healy’s absence, young wicketkeeper Kate Pelle, who made her WBBL debut against the Melvourne Stars on Thurday (October 19), is likely to step in and take the gloves.
In addition to Healy’s injury, middle-order batter Mathilda Carmichael was also forced to withdraw from Sunday’s game due to back strain she suffered on Saturday during pratice.
